I’ve always found platitudes funny. Social media is full of them, often posted by people with an attractive photo of themselves. I would wonder who is this person saying “Go after your dreams” – why are they on a beach dressed attractively, posed dramatically, and what have they accomplished that qualifies them to offer us advice? I suspect it’s vanity masked as altruism, which only feeds their vanity.
In this video, Master Sales Coach Joseph (Joey) Kincaid visits his former sales mentor Walter (The Colonel) Kurtz to show his respects for the words of wisdom he received earlier in his career. It turns out they were hollow platitudes – common is the sales world – that even the mentor didn’t believe. And I thought it would be funny to give it an Apocalypse Now treatment to heighten the drama of the comedy… if you get my drift.
