A Thriller About Bread

Growing up I was always a fan of those demonic possession movies. The trend was kicked off with The Exorcist (1973) and then followed The Omen (1976), Audrey Rose (1977), The Amityville Horror (1979) etc. Perhaps, a nod should be given to Rosemary’s Baby (1968).

Now, I can’t watch them; they’re too scary!

I thought it would be fun to make a movie trailer for a new thriller of this ilk, but satiric rather than satanic. Many religious texts make reference to rules to live by; I’m not talking about the biggies such as the Ten Commandments but lessor rules such as not eating certain foods at certain times – or at all.

One rule that I thought had comedic potential was the eating of leavened or unleavened bread. Leavened bread rises such as a baguette or a bagel, while unleavened bread is flat like pita or naan. So, my mind got to thinking of a new demonic movie around bread, and that’s how a trailer for The Leavening was born.

On its own, The Leavening sounds like a rather ominous title for some horrible approaching evil. Nope, it’s just about bread – that is evil.

Here’s the poster with its inspiration; the trailer is coming soon.
